We are pleased to present the twentieth edition of the Festival Capraia Musica, an event that, for two decades, has drawn audiences with its outstanding musical offerings, immersed in the evocative atmosphere of the island of Capraia. This festival represents a rare opportunity to experience live music in one of the most unique and fascinating corners of our country, where natural beauty harmoniously blends with the magic of music.
This year, the program promises to be rich and diverse, featuring concerts that range from classical music to jazz, extending to contemporary sounds, offering an experience that is sure to satisfy a wide array of musical preferences. The Church of Sant'Antonio, the Cloister of San Francesco, the Bay of Porto, and many other characteristic locations on the island will become extraordinary stages for performances by internationally acclaimed artists, renowned soloists, and distinguished ensembles.
The festival is honored to host world-class musicians, including the celebrated cellist Mario Brunello, the pianist Benedetto Lupo, the pianist Riccardo Risaliti, the cellist Giovanni Gnocchi, the pianist Monica Cattarossi, the clarinetist Tommaso Lonquich, the saxophonist Luis Lanzarini, and the Trio Concept. Additionally, the event will feature promising young talents from the music scene, such as the pianists Giacomo Menegardi and Alessandro Artese, the cellist Erica Piccotti, the violinist Lisa Rieder, and many others, who will enrich the festival with their interpretations. Their repertoire will span from the golden age of Classicism to a variety of 20th-century works.
The concerts will showcase masterpieces by the greatest Classical-Romantic composers, from Johann Sebastian Bach to Johannes Brahms, including Ludwig van Beethoven, Felix Mendelssohn, Frederic Chopin, and Robert Schumann, as well as works by 20th-century composers such as Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, Zoltan Kodaly, Darius Milhaud, Igor Stravinsky, Benjamin Britten, Astor Piazzolla, Gyorgy Kurtag, and many others. The program will also feature several world premieres (A. Artese, L. Marino).
Beyond a celebration of music, the festival offers a sensory experience, engaging audiences in a unique encounter with the surrounding environment. Among the special events, highlights include a concert dedicated to children, a musical trekking enriched by a wine and honey tasting from Capraia an experience that combines the joy of music with the discovery of the island's local products. Finally, the sunset concerts will provide an unforgettable soundtrack to one of the most breathtaking landscapes in the Mediterranean.
A defining feature of this edition is also the concert for the inmates of the Gorgona Island Correctional Facility, a meaningful act of inclusion and shared humanity that further enhances the festival's social impact.
