The eighteenth edition of the Capraia Music Festival is an opportunity for fans of classical music to enjoy accomplished performances in beautiful natural settings. The festival has long been recognized as one of Italy's premier summer music events. Esteemed performers and natural beauty are the formula for the festival's success. In 2023 the festival will present performances during one week in July and a separate week in August. Those who attend either week of the festival will be able to experience the natural and architectural beauty of the island, and will enjoy performances by established musicians and emerging musical talents.
The program of the 16 concerts in 2023 have a number of important themes. The music of Johann Sebastian Bach will be featured and will include some rarely heard instruments such as the lute. Compositions by Wolfgang Rihm, Bohuslav Martinu, Luca Mosca, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, György Ligeti, Dmitri Shostakovich, Bela Bartók, Christophe Giovaninetti, Christopher Culpo will be performed. Performances will include a symphony concert by a youth orchestra and a historic portable wooden organ. The festival has important collaborations with cultural entities such as the Academic Foundation "Incontri col Maestro" in Imola, the Elba Festival, the Conservatory of Genoa.
