Presentation

The 17th edition of the acclaimed Capraia music festival is a special opportunity for appreciators of classical music to enjoy performances by accomplished artists while enjoying beautiful natural settings. This year, for the first time, there will be two separated festival segments; the first in July and a second a few weeks later in August. Because of rising costs the concerts will require paid admission.
The concerts will be presented by established artists and select emerging performers who have come to attention through success in national and international competitions. Mario Brunello will initiate the July festival with “trekking” concerts including performance of Bach’s sonate and partite for small cello. Giovanni Sollima will open the August week with a program that includesfolk tunes and some of his own compositions. Renowned violinist Domenico Nordio will perform with pianist Riccardo Risaliti, one of the festival's artistic collaborators. Maria Grazia Amoruso will play the portative organ created by the maestro Giorgio Questa in concert with the Asolo Chamber Orchestra conducted by Valter Favero. In collaboration with the Fondazione Teatro Goldoni in Livorno, there will be a concert for voice and piano that was produced for the Mascagni Festival 2022 entitled "Mascagni and the Sea".
Several chamber groups will perform innovative programs: the Fausto Ferraiuolo Jazz Trio, the Camerata Musicale Ligure ("Tribute to Liguria," with pieces by Lauzi, Bindi, De André ), the sax-piano duo Lanzarin-Andrich (program dedicated to Argentine tango), the Collegium Pro Musica Winds (recorder trio), the Ring Around vocal quartet and the flute-guitar duo Nicolini-Giudice (featuring twentieth-century music).
The emerging performers include Josef Mossali, winner of the most recent "Venice Prize," Lisa Amirfeiz, pianist and cellist, and Tuscan pianist Riccardo Gagliardi, winner of the Concorso Massarosa International Competition last year.
Capraia is a beautiful island and the festival will include several performances in scenic natural settings.
